These big old mallets really excel at driving stakes in the ground, splitting stubborn pieces of wood with wedges and especially at assembling large heavy timber frame structures.
Our commanders are made using the very hardest of hard rock maple for the heads for extreme hardness and durability. These heads are bound tightly together with thick steel bands held in place by square headed lag bolts.
The roughly 5x12" head is paired with a 36" hand carved slip fit ash or hickory handle. These slip fit handles are a joy as they can easily be tightened by simply tapping them in from above.
